Plot Synopsis
The story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is about to experience the biggest day of his life. With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India’s “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” But when the show breaks for the night, police arrest him on suspicion of cheating; how could a street kid know so much? Desperate to prove his innocence, Jamal tells the story of his life in the slum where he and his brother grew up, of their adventures together on the road, of vicious encounters with local gangs, and of Latika, the girl he loved and lost. Each chapter of his story reveals the key to the answer to one of the game show’s questions.
Each chapter of Jamal’s increasingly layered story reveals where he learned the answers to the show’s seemingly impossible quizzes. But one question remains a mystery: what is this young man with no apparent desire for riches really doing on the game show? When the new day dawns and Jamal returns to answer the final question, the Inspector and sixty million viewers are about to find out. At the heart of its storytelling lies the question of how anyone comes to know the things they know about life and love. Written by Fox Searchlight Pictures
Eighteen year old Jamal Malik is having an amazing answering streak on the Indian version of the television game show, “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”. He’s only one correct question away from the big prize. However, some, including those associated with the game show, question how someone like Jamal, a self confessed non-genius who grew up in the slums of Mumbai, can be doing so well on the show when others who are brighter, more educated and wealthier than him have failed. Is Jamal cheating? Is it purely luck that they have asked him the questions to which he knows the answers? Seeing Jamal’s life journey to this point ultimately answers these questions. His life journey includes being orphaned at an early age; growing up with an older brother, Salim, who was both his guardian/protector and antagonist; and having a relationship since childhood with another orphaned child, a girl named Latika. His motivation for being on the show also may provide some answers to his success. Perhaps it was all just meant to be?

Are you contemplating about buying satellite TV PC Software. If so, you will want to read this article in it’s entirety to avoid being scammed by shady satellite TV for pc software dealers.
The first thing to watch out for is illegal software. There are many illegitimate tv pc software dealers out there retailing pirated software to unsuspecting customers online. Here are some things to look out for.
You should be cautious of where the tv pc software is being sold. 9 times out of 10, if you are purchasing tv pc software from auction sites, it is illegal. This is not true in every single instance, but most times, that will be the case. If you decide to purchase software from an Internet auction, contact the seller and request they provide you proof of the legitimacy of the software they are selling.
You should also thoroughly read the sales page very closely to see if you will be getting precisely what you expect. Some tv pc software dealers write up hyped up sales pages that seem too good to be true. If it sounds too good to be true…well you know the rest. If something seems a little ambiguous, contact the seller and ask them to clarify. I recommend you email them instead of calling; that way you have it in print.
Additionally, you should only buy from tv pc software dealers who use a merchant account that offers buyer protection. Paypal for example, has a buyer protection program that will refund you your money if a product purchased with Paypal was misrepresented or not delivered
The Paypal buyer protection program is a 2-step process. The first step gives the buyer and seller an opportunity to come to a mutual agreement. If this is not possible, the claim can be escalated to a buyer dispute and Paypal will conduct an audit to see whether or not the customer is entitled to a refund.
When buying tv pc software, you should also be concerned with the quality of the programming. Many tv on pc software programs deliver hideous picture and/or program quality. Before purchasing a tv pc software program, try to find out what channels will be available to you and what quality the picture will be. Some companies showcase a sample channel stream to give you a glimpse of the programming and picture quality.
you should look for tv on pc software with a user-friendly interface, in particularly if you are not comfortable with computers. The best satellite TV pc software downloads have a simple interface that is easy to navigate with channels listed in a practical manner. Most will list countries with their featured TV channels. Each country will also have the available online channels listed from which you can choose.
This may be a given, but pricing should also be a factor. You don’t want a software program priced to low as that is almost a sure sign you are being sold an Illegal duplicate. However, you also don’t want to pay more than you have to for a legal copy. You should expect to pay between $29 and $49 for legitimate tv on pc software and this should be for a one-time fee not a recurring fee. Every once in a while you can find deals for around $20 but this is rare, so consider yourself lucky if you do happen to stumble upon a deal that sweet.
The minimum requirements to access pc based tv channels should be standard. Most programs require a minimum of 300 MHz, 520mb RAM, P4 processor and a high speed Internet connection. These are very minimal requirements and chances are your pc or laptop already far exceeds these specifications.
Reliable online satellite tv for pc software should have an acceptable download file size. They should not be huge files that occupy a lot of space on your computer’s hard drive. Software with large files tend to include harmful adware which is can be damaging to your pc. When reading the sales page, look for the download size and a guarantee that the software is free of viruses and spyware.
Finally, you should only buy from dealers who have a no risk guarantee. If a dealer doesn’t offer some type of guarantee it implies they don’t believe in their own product enough to stand behind it. If this is the case, run away and fast.

To create interesting fluid portraits that radiate life you must appreciate the effect of the spine on the skull and shoulders.
To produce a relaxed feeling in your portraits quite often you will need to draw the skull tilted. Most people when they are at ease will view with their head slightly slanted. In this article we will point out what to look for and how to tackle the slanted head.
In the slanted skull view the model will show a clear change of direction from the action of the torso to the slant of the skull. Also take note of where the shoulders are. The subject’s shoulders will approximately be aligned with the bottom of the nose.
With this information in mind, the first step is to gauge the angle of the head’s tilt (from the base of the chin to the top of the skull) before drawing the arabesque. To do this hold your pencil (or a knitting needle) at arm’s length, looking through one eye, and adjust the angle of the held pencil so that it relates to the angle of the slant. Keeping your arm straight and locked you can now transpose this angle onto the drawing.
Now that the angle of the slant is found you can draw the construct and validate the height/width proportion.
The axis of the features is perpendicular to the slanted facial angle. A common tendency while drawing is to straighten out the features so that they are horizontal to the paper. Be aware of this and ever on-guard because this trend is subtle and is constantly trying to sneak into the sketch.
It is not a recommended practice to situate all of the features at this time. It is actually more correct to first fix the brow line and the bottom of the nose and work from there.
When the head is tilted you should also be aware of the effect that gravity has on the face. The skin, particularly on the underside of the jaw, will be slightly pulled down. This effect is quite faint but for those of you who are expert portraitists you should catch this in your initial arabesque. If you are a beginner just put this information away for future reference.
Take note, also, of the neck. The important visible neck muscle is extended. Its companion is compressed. This opposite muscle action is referred to as abduction/adduction. This action of the neck always renders a beautiful effect.
Once the arabesque is situated and you are satisfied with its accuracy relative to proportion and form you can render the features and hatch-in the principal big darks and lights. Keep the tone simple. The more complex the lighting arrangement, the more this applies.
The tonal arrangements are worked further, but are still a bit crude and unresolved. The prime concern is the overall light effect.
There are a few items to keep in mind as you prepare to finalize the sketch:
1. Determine how far you should carry the drawing. You can get a good effect if you give the shoulders and upper torso an unfinished quality. Remember, sketches are not meant to resemble photos.
2. As you gain a deeper understanding of the facial structure the tendency exists to draw what you know rather than what is actually there. So make sure you always pause to observe the life model or the model in the photograph.
In conclusion, the slanted skull pose is special in that the features will be centered on a tilted axis and that the tension in the shoulders will be different from one side to the other. Also the changeover from the torso and shoulders to the skull should be carefully observed.

Including a hand in your portraits adds a significant measure of excitement but can quickly ruin an otherwise fine portrait if done incorrectly.
The goal is to integrate the hand so that it is not only proportionally and gestural right, but is in agreement in personality with the expression of the face.
For instance, an agreeable facial expression juxtaposed with a clenched fist may not yield the effect you want unless you intend to add an ironic twist to your portrait. On the other hand, a hand supporting the head fits very well with a stern scowling expression.
First, absolute novices should not be attempting to sketch both the hand and portrait together. Things will quickly get muddled. The lesson for the absolute beginner here is to get a grasp of the significance of acquiring a solid foundation of your skill.
In a view where a hand supports the skull there exists a delicate forward tilt because the model is a little bit hunched and leaning forward. For the draftsperson, this situation translates into the presence of a faintly foreshortened and reclined portrait. In the hand/head case this means that the chin is slightly receding relative to the forehead.
As always, you should begin with the construct, which in this situation, includes the hand and the shoulder. If you first draw the head and then attach the hand to it you are really asking for trouble. The hand and the skull will lack cohesion and will give the awkward impression that they are two distinct objects that are coincidentally juxtaposed.
When sketching the construct be aware of the negative as well as the positive spaces. Also, do not pre-measure any aspects of the complete arabesque. It should be drawn with as much fluidity as possible without losing your sense of size. Strike first then verify.
Further build upon the complete arabesque by establishing the face, hand, and shoulder landmark
s and sizes. The internal architecture of the complete arabesque is initiated by blocking-in the maindarks and painting out the lights with a kneaded eraser.
What you are doing is to set the stage for articulating the facial features, the hand, and the shoulder. The hand must be positioned and proportioned in accordance with the head and the facial features. The compression of the jaw into the palm must also be reckoned with.
Using a sharp pencil you can now further develop the value and shape with cross-hatching, stumping down, and painting out. In this, you will be going back and forth hoping that you know when to stop. Sketching is about making decisions, i.e., knowing what to build up and, just as significant, knowing what to leave out.
In the hand/skull case you have to be particularly careful how far you develop the hand. The hand should be seen as a prop, that is, a supporting element that should not be part of the focus. Do not feel compelled to refine every element in your drawing. Everything in sketching is about equilibrium and transferring your intent directly to the viewer’s eye.
In conclusion, it is critical to see the hand and the shoulder as parts of one whole. Starting your drawing with drawing the complete arabesque will help you greatly with maintaining this harmony. Treat the hand and shoulder as props that surround the face. This means that you should draw them in a subordinate role.

There are many modes of sketching: linear, value-wise, gestural, etc. In this article we will center on carving out form with a sculptural awareness.
This manner of drawing is very much like working with clay except that we are working on paper, of course, and using our fingers, a stump, tissue, and the kneaded eraser as our sculpture tools.
As always, begin with drawing the construct and establishing the essential sizes of the facial area.
Before hatching-in the principal light/dark patterns you should squint and look at the model or the photo. Squinting distills the lights and darks into simple patterns of one particular value because it obscures the minutia.
At this point, just concern yourself with the big masses, maybe even just two, a light one and a dark one. Do not yet attempt to break down the darks at this point.
Drawing in this way is also excellent training for painting because this is how you build up a painting particularly when using the One Stroke method of painting.
Drawing, painting, and sculpture are subtractive/additive enterprises. You first add something and then you take a bit away, all the while progressing towards the final drawing.
You also will use your kneaded eraser to carve out the lights. When doing this pay careful attention to the anatomical principles; every form indicates a muscle landmark.
We all have our individual preferences about how we work. At this stage, you may prefer to improve the arabesque and hone in on the facial features. Other artists will go on working tonally without any line work. As you gain expertise and grow as an artist you will make your own selections. That is what art making is: selections – good and bad.
Now that we have the essentials down including the overall sizes, we can begin reworking the darks and the lights. The goal is to go for the “full stretch” of values, i.e., from the darkest darks to the lightest light.
Beginning and intermediate draftspersons often fail to go for the full value interval. Quite often the reason for this is the fear of destroying their drawing and also because they have read, or been told, not to overwork the sketch.
As a student you should take a drawing as far as you possibly can, even to the point of collapse. That way you will learn precisely how far you can go. If you always stop short you will never know what lies beyond.
Use your fingers, a tissue, and a stump to blend the values. The best thing is to start dividing each tonal mass into two separate smaller forms of different tones wherever your observations tell you there is a difference in tone to be made. Keep in mind the varying planes and the anatomy of the model’s features.
The hair is kept dark and simple with only a few strokes of the kneaded eraser to suggest the disheveled locks of hair. Do not overdo these strokes or they will look blanched.
In closing, when using the sculptural mode of drawing a pencil portrait always treat your tools as if they were brushes. Imagine as much as possible that you are painting instead of drawing. Constantly keep in mind the anatomy and the changing plane bearings that you note in your subject. Always sketch from the general to the specific or from the large to the small. As you get more skill, try to remember the things that work for you and include them in your style of drawing.

Access expert info for working with children – your personal guide.
If you want to decorate an area, whether it be a child’s room, your wardrobe or even the front of your house, it does not matter whether you consider yourself to be a fantastic artist or just about able to dab on some paint. Interesting and exciting patterns can be created with the use of one or more wall stencils, just follow our basic steps:
Step 1. Use a quality template
Make sure that the stencil design you are using is quality and from a reputable seller. Read their feedback from previous customers. Having the stencil design soak through with paint in the middle of the masterpiece would be highly annoying. Likewise, not knowing the order in which to paint multi-layer stencil designs could lead to a disaster. So instructions, and a picture of the finished work, are essential on all but the easiest wall stencils.
Step 2. Use the proper tools
Stencil paint is best applied using either a brush, sponge or a roller. Select a soft but stiff, round brush for stencilling and apply the paint carefully avoiding a build up of excess paint at the edge of the stencil design, else you will find the paint creeping under and spoiling the effect.
If the stencil requires the use of multiple colours, consider the use of an applicator per colour rather than trying to wash it in between each colour. Washing the brush or roller will only lead to water being carried onto the paint, which could result in a run.
Step 3. Use the correct technique
In order to avoid paint being dragged under the wall stencil, always start your stroke at the edge of the stencil and work towards the centre. Thus paint is being pulled away from the actual stencil, rather than dragged towards it.
The paint should be applied in thin layers, allowing each to dry between applications, if required. Again, overuse of paint is risking allowing the paint to run under the stencil and spoil the effect.
Step 4. Don’t move the stencil
Whilst applying the paint you might be using the stencil several times in one position, whilst applying different colours. So tape the stencil design in place firmly, but using a suitable easy to remove adhesive tape that won’t damage the areas already painted. And if you are taping an area that has already been painted, make sure it is well dry and firm!
Step 5. Clean the stencil before moving on
If using the wall stencil once on a job isn’t sufficient, then ensure that it is properly cleaned before repositioning it ready for the next use. Any excess paint might just run off onto the next part of the pattern and look unsightly, spoiling the beautiful stencil effect.
There’s a great assortment of stencils to choose from. From aquatic, to Fairy Tale to out of this world space themes. Let your imagination run wild and enjoy your stencilling effects!

For inexperienced artists the trouble with seeing lies in the conflict that exists between the actual visual reality of an object
and the way the mind tries to represent our perception of this reality on the drawing paper. This attempt always involves the propensity to draw our iconic preconception instead of the concrete reality.
Iconic preconceptions are part of a subconscious visual language that uses symbols to represent known entities. This lingo of icons evolved as a mechanism to help us endure as a species. These icons aid us, for instance, to instantly recognize food sources or dangerous predators.
When we observe an unknown object our involuntary mind instantantly tries to form a new symbol to characterize and store the item in memory. Often starting artists will more correctly draw unknown entities than familiar ones because they are not yet wedded to the new icons.
However, when they attempt to sketch the same object a second time, it is likely that a more symbolic picture will emerge because ready to use icons have already been stored in the brain.
Consider, for instance, the word “head”. Immediately an image comes to mind which is symbolic for the head. Unfortunately, this symbol is only a iconic picture of a head and is invariably a gross simplification of a real head. Nevertheless, there is a strong subconscious pull to draw the symbol instead of what we actually see.
It is this conflict that artists must learn to overcome. This is particularly a difficulty for pencil portrait artists. When sketching a portrait the artist must resolve numerous layers of symbols to realize a realistic effect.
We now will illustrate a very good exercise to learn to overcome the problem of icon sketching.
We will be sketching from an upside-down picture. This way our iconic preconception of the head is interrupted. We will be forced to draw without our symbols. The result will be a purer drawing experience free from a contaminated perception.
As you sketch the lines and hatch-in the tones you will feel quite awkward in your drawing. This is a good thing. Do not be concerned with the quality of your work. This is an exercise in seeing.
When working with line and tone this way, beginning artists often get better outcomes than from the right-side up way. Trust yourself and throughout the exercise only look at your photo in the upside-down position even though it may feel quite uncomfortable.
You will learn to see and draw value as forms and will be able to break down hard edges into short, straight lines instead of the usual icons your brain will give to the nose, the ears, etc.
Thinking of and naming perceived entities will lead you down the garden path of oval shaped eyes, two circles for nostrils, a cluster of lines for hair, cauliflower ears and something that looks like the letter M sitting on a bowl for a mouth instead of what is actually there.
Artists will never be free of schematic fixations. The symbols actually adapt and become more refined. It is only by constantly analyzing and abstracting shape that we are able to sketch realistically.

Grab helpful ideas to how to tattoo – welcome to your personal knowledge pack.
Imagine that we have a profile where the skull, arm, and fingers are visible and are in contact. Very often, the starting artist will attempt to draw each of these elements independently. The approach will invariably lead to frustration and ultimately often to failure.
Instead of drawing each entity independently, the first step in your drawing should be to strike the “total” arabesque, i.e., the complete contour of the picture. The complete arabesque which includes parts other than the head (in this case the skull, fingers, and arms) is called the “construct”.
For the beginner it is best to reduce the construct to its simplest shape thereby ignoring all the minutia such as the bumps in the fingers and the hair. With experience, you will be able to add all these bumps without much difficulty as you go along.
A good construct (also known as a complete arabesque) also contains a singular gestural cadence that subordinates all minutia. In other words, this rhythmic gesture exists independent of the details.
When you are sketching a single entity or skull the checking of the height/width sizing is fairly easy. As a general rule the width of the skull is checked against its length utilizing the base of the chin as the primary landmark.
If, for some reason the chin is hidden (e.g., behind the arm or fingers), an other landmark must be found. The arm, the jaw, or the lines of the fingers are good spots to find a new signpost.
Once you have sketched a satisfactory construct it must be checked for accuracy. To do this, we can, for instance, look for vertical and/or horizontal distances that are supposed to be equal and see if they in fact are the same. Use all your gained knowledge of sizing. Also use your general knowledge of anatomical placing of the eyes, ears, etc.
Once you are happy that the construct is properly sketched you can proceed to hatch-in the prime light/dark blueprint and take your first tentative stab at drawing the facial area, i.e., the placing of the brow, the eyes, the nose and the mouth. Again, if the usual signposts for those elements can for some reason not be employed you should be original enough to determine appropriate substitutes.
Keep hatching-in all elements as soon as you draw them. This includes the fingers, arms, and hair if any of them are noticeable in the given profile you are drawing. Remember to always work from the general to the specific.
Also, always use a sharp pencil, take into account your knowledge of anatomy, and always look for mistakes and, of course, correct them.
Next, the pencil portrait sketch must now be worked-up value-wise by cross-hatching with 8B, 2H, and 4H pencils, by stumping down the pencil dust with your fingers or a stump, and by using your putty eraser to define the lights. All this should be done in a sculpturally manner.
Lastly, you can choose how much minutia you want to put into your sketch or how unresolved you may leave the drawing. For instance, you can leave some parts of the fingers or the arm unfinished. Or, if you want to emphasize a particular region of the portrait, you can increase the munitia in that region and leave the other regions slightly unfinished.
These are a few of many considerations that go into sketching a more complex portrait that has a complete arabesque. One essential thing to remember is to sketch the construct first so you do not end up sketching one item after another without preserving cohesion. Following these rules will surely put you on the proper path of sketching more intricate portraits.

Once you have hatched the primary tone masses of your portrait you are ready to blend and “remove” the lights with a kneaded eraser.
A stump is a cylindrical devise tapered at the ends and generally made of rolled paper.
Stumping then is to smear or blend your hatchings with a stump. The goal of blendingis to produce gradations and halftones and to give particular tone areas a softer appearance.
Blending can be accomplished in other ways. You can use tissue paper or even your fingers or both. When using your fingers be sure to wipe off any oily remains with a tissue.
Blending must be done in a sculpturally manner. You should figuratively cut out the form while keeping in mind both the structural anatomy and the changes of the planes. As you work name each anatomical detail. This is particularly true when you work on intricate structures such as the nose and the eyes.
In a analogous manner you can use your kneaded eraser to “take out” pencil dust to lighten particularareas. Again, go about it in a painterly manner. Use the putty eraser as if it is a brush.
Now and then you may want to utilize the concept of “finality”. Your mind has a propensity to fill in the gaps in your observations. That is, the mind has a need for “closure”. You can make judicious use of this tendency and leave certain parts of your portrait uncompleted. It adds interest to your drawing as the viewer’s mind will involuntarily finalize the portrait for you.
After you have done lots of blending and taking out graphite with your kneaded eraser it is time to further express the forms and planes by hatching with a harder pencil (e.g., a 2H pencil). But, there are a few things to look out for at this time.
Care must be taken not to leave the light side of the face too darkly or it will look like a contusion. The smile-line is also problematic. If you over-stress it you will end up with a sneer. It is best to under-emphasize it and let the viewer’s sense of closure finalize it for you.
An significant consideration must be made when drawing from a photo. A photograph should only be reference material. That means aesthetic decisions must be made. For example:
- What kind of emotional response are you after? When people view your portrait what type of initial gut reaction do you want them to have to your sketch. Good skill is certainly necessary. But it will count for nothing if it is frosty cold and dry.
- Make choices. You should not draw every small detail but only the essential ones. Use your artistic judgement to make these choices.
A hard 4H pencil can be used to make the already dark areas even darker through hatching.
Careful consideration must be given to the edges of the shapes in your drawing. For instance, as a form turns away from the light source its value progressively gets darker and takes on a soft edge.
A cast shadow has a hard edge. The form of a cast shadow is determined by the shape of the entity throwing the shadow and the shape upon which it is being thrown.
End the sketch by paying attention to the essential details. You also want to further tweak and stabilize the constructed values. Your drawing must always read as a cohesive entity even though you choose not to bring it to a complete finish.
These few simple tips will set you on the accurate path. Apply them correctly and soon your pencil portraits will show much improvement.
